Concurrent with his being lead vocalist and guitarist in the Scottish alternative band The Soup Dragons, Hifi Sean was spinning classic disco tracks from his extensive vinyl collection around Glasgow. By 2001, he and a friend launched a weekly club night called Record Players. An immediate success, Sean next set his sights on making original music again, but this time as a dance music composer, producer, and in-demand remixer. Now based in London, His sweat-inducing sets are built on many of his own exclusive remixes and re-edits, tailored to take each audience on a unique, personal journey. Building a reputation on this commitment to DJing as an artform has seen Sean take up residencies and thrill dancefloors at the most popular, boundary-pushing clubs in the global underground dance scene.
In July, 2017, Hifi Sean and powerhouse singer/songwriter Crystal Waters released “Testify” worldwide via Defected Records. The single reached peak position on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart on October 7, becoming the eleventh single from Crystal to reach #1 on that chart.
“Testify” follows last year’s Ft. (Plastique Recordings), the debut album from Hifi Sean which marked “Testify's” debut alongside additional collaborations with Yoko Ono, Paris Grey (Inner City), Dave Ball (Soft Cell), Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub), Bootsy Collins, David McAlmont, Fred Schneider (The B-52’s), Little Annie, Billie Ray Martin, Alan Vega, Maggie K De Monde (Scarlet Fantastic), and Jean Honeymoon.
Currently, Hifi Sean is hard at work on a new album for 2018.
